K.Y.P.S. (Kegel Youth Points Series) Season 19
Regular Event Tournament Rules 2024-25
Point System: Points will be awarded based on finishing position in the division. Points will be used for an invitational tournament to be held at the end of the season in March. The Year-End event will have an increased prize fund from escrow collected at each individual event throughout the season.
(Participants only receive points in the events they compete in.)
Participants will earn points based on how many opponents they beat in each event. For example, if there are 15 entrants in that division, first place in that division will receive 15 points. Second place, 14 points, and so on. At the end of the season, all the points will be added up and the following will have an automatic entry into the Year End event in March:
U18 Division: 4 Boys, 3 Girls
U15 Division: 3 Boys, 2 Girls
In addition to receiving entries into the Year-End event, the points leaders at the end of each half will also be awarded bonus scholarship money as follows
U18 Division leaders: $125 each (As of November & February)
U15 Division leaders: $ 75 each (As of November & February)
Divisions: Each event will feature 4 divisions:
Males ages Under 18 years old (08/01/2006 - 07/31/2009)
Males ages Under 15 years old (08/01/2009 or later)
Females ages Under 18 years old (08/01/2006 - 07/31/2009)
Females ages Under 15 years old (08/01/2009 or later)
The tournament is open to any USBC Member in good standing that is under the age of 18. Non sanctioned players will need to join USBC to be able to participate. Pacers may be allowed at tournament discretion. **Age is determined as of age on Aug 1st**
Format: The tournament will consist of one squad with an optional side event afterwards. The tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the side event beginning just after. Entries are limited to 60 bowlers per event. Total pinfall over the 5 games will determine finishing position. Bowlers will move one pair to the right after each game. Lane assignments will be given at the time of check in. Bowlers are allowed to use a maximum of 3 bowling balls when 1 lane pattern is used. Bowlers may select a 4th ball if it is a dual pattern event. Bowlers will only be allowed to change ball surfaces during practice by hand only.
Side Events: During the Season there will be several event formats such as Baker Trios, Scotch Doubles and Best Ball. The KYPS rules will apply to all these special events.
Entry Fee:
Online Entry or Walk In Entry $60
($28 Lineage, $24 Prize Fund, $3 Expenses, $5 Year End Prize Fund)
Preference is given to pre-registrations made online up to 2 days prior to event. Walk in entries will be accepted as space allows.
Side Event entries are $10 per person. For example, if the event is doubles, total entry is $20. If it’s a trio’s event, $30 per team, etc.
Payment will be due the day of the event. We accept cash and credit cards only.
Check In: Check-in will begin 1 hour prior to the tournament start time (9:00 a.m.).
Pre-Registration STRONGLY encouraged for all events.
Entries have been limited to the first 60 bowlers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Scholarships: Prize money will be returned 100%. Scholarships will be paid out on a minimum of 1:5 ratio. Ties will split the combined money for the positions. All scholarships will be managed by SMART.
Registration: Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done 2 ways:
1 - Online registration – Pre-Registration done online up to Friday before KYPS.
2 – Walk In Registration – Registration accepted day of event as space allows.
Behavior: Proper behavior is expected of all participants and spectators. Any abuse of bowling equipment or other outrageous behavior (such as swearing) will not be tolerated. Incidents will result in a verbal warning and/or disqualification. All decisions will be made by tournament management. All decisions are final! Any improper spectator behavior will be handled in the same manner.
Lane Conditions: Competition will take place on sport compliant lane conditions. Pattern(s) will be announced on site at the end of the competition.
Dress Code: All dress should be appropriate for competition. Acceptable attire includes, but is not limited to, collared shirts, jerseys, dress pants, slacks, skorts, and golf shorts.
Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to, torn jeans, hats, T-shirts, and visible undergarments. Tournament management reserves the right to refuse entry based on attire.
Any protests of tournament management decisions need to be filed in accordance with USBC Rule 329.
