Competition. The Teen Masters (TM) is a scratch event and its bowling competition is governed by the rules of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).
Ownership. The TM is owned and operated by Killer 'B' Promotions (KBP). KBP reserves the right to determine any matters not covered in these rules or the rules of the USBC.
Singles Divisions. The 2010 TM offers competition in three (3) age divisions:
- Under 14 - Was born after January 1, 1996.
- Under 18 - Was born after January 1, 1992.
- Under 22 - Was born after January 1, 1988.
Eligibility. To be eligible to participate in the 2010 TM, the following criterea must be met:
- Enrollment. Is a student in good standing at an accredited school, college, or home school program. December '09 graduates are eligible for the 2010 Teen Masters.
- Academic Performance. Holds the equivalent of a grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and is academically eligible to represent their school in interscholastic/intercollegiate competition. If you're grades won't allow you to represent your school in other sports, it's likely you shouldn't be bowling in the Teen Masters. The minimum grade point average requirement may be waived for specific entrants at the discretion of tournament management.
- Amateur. Is not a member of the Professional Bowlers Association.
Good Sportsmanship. TM participants are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship by treating themselves and their fellow athletes with respect and by giving their best effort at all times. Parents are expected to serve as good role models for the athletes.
Singles Qualifying Competition. TM singles qualifying competition will consist of twelve (12) games, six (6) on a long TM lane condition bowled on Saturday and six (6) on a short TM lane condition bowled on Sunday.
Multiple Entries. Athletes may enter multiple qualifying competitions. Bowlers who have already qualified for the championships may continue to enter qualifying competition and compete for regional scholarship awards, but will not count against the number of additional athletes who will advance to the championships.
Regional Singles Entry Fees. The entry fee for singles qualifying is $97 ($40 scholarship awards, $57 expenses) in advance of the Early Bee Deadline, $110 after the deadline including a $13 late processing fee. 100% of the scholarship funds collected will be awarded in the form of scholarships. The Early Bee Deadline varies by location.
Singles Scholarship Divisions. Scholarships will be awarded on a 1:4 ratio at both the regional and national levels in six (6) divisions: U22 Boys, U18 Boys, U14 Boys, U22 Girls, U18 Girls, and U14 Girls. One (1) $100 scholarship will be awarded for each four (4) regional singles entries in each respective scholarship division.
Singles Advancement to the Championships. Each regional singles qualifying competition will advance a minimum of two athletes in each of six (6) divisions: U22 Boys, U18 Boys, U14 Boys, U22 Girls, U18 Girls, and U14 Girls. Additional athletes will advance within each division on a 1:4 ratio. Six (6) entries in a given division advances two (2), ten (10) advances three (3), fourteen will advance four (4), etc.
Additional Singles Championship Finalists. KBP reserves the right to extend invitations to eligible members of the following groups:
- Members of the 2010 Dexter All-American High School Team.
- Representatives from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and international bowling federations.
- 2009 Teen Masters Championship Finalists who advanced to match play and compete in a 2010 regional qualifying event.
- Members of U18 division teams participating in the championships who entered regional singles competition but failed to qualify.
- Representatives of partnering youth tournament groups who establish a Teen Masters points list.
Singles Championships Registration Package. Each finalist will be required to purchase a Finals Registration Package on TeenMastersBowling.com within 21 days of qualifying for the finals. The package is
$397 and includes the following:
- Two (2) finalist polo shirts
- National finalist credentials
- One (1) ticket to the Welcome Celebration
- One (1) ticket to the Teen Masters After-Party
- Practice Session
- Teen Masters singles competition
- $200 added to the scholarship prize fund
Teen Masters Hotel Packages. Special Teen Masters packages will be availabe from our partner hotels, Circus Circus, Eldorado, and Silver Legacy. Participants will purchase their hotel package directly from each respective hotel using a code that will be published on or before March 1. Each package includes the following:
- One (1) Hotel room for five (5) nights (Sunday through Thursday).
- One (1) Ebonite Platinum Performance ball (newest release).
- Certificate for layout, drilling, grips & slugs for $20 in the National Bowling Stadium Pro Shop.
- One (1) Triple-roller bowling ball bag.
- One (1) paid entry into 2nd Chance Scholarship Sweeper exclusively for those not earning scholarships in the Teen Masters.
Special Teen Masters Package price at Circus Circus - $440.
Special Teen Masters Package price at Eldorado or Silver Legacy - $500.
Additional nights may be purchased from the hotels at a special Teen Masters discount.
Acceptance of Championship Invitations. To accept your invitation to the Teen Masters Championships, you must register on TeenMastersBowling.com within 21 days of your regional qualifying competition. Failure to meet the 21 day deadline may result in your invitation being offered to the next alternate.
Walk-ins. Regional walk-in entries are accepted, but the on-site entry fees must be paid with cash or money order.
Mandatory Orientation Seminar. ALL championship finalists and parents, grandparents, guardians, coaches and siblings are required to attend a Teen Masters Orientation Seminar prior to being allowed to compete or spectate at the National Bowling Stadium.
Refunds. There will be no refunds.
Closing Date. Qualifying for singles competition in the Teen Masters closes July 24, 2010.
Regional Qualifying Dress Code. All bowlers must be neatly dressed. All bowlers must wear a sleeved bowling or golf shirt with a butterfly collar. Boys will wear belted slacks, and girls will wear pants, non-denim skirts or skorts. No shorts, hats, headphones or clothing with obscene or vulgar images or language will be allowed.
Championship Finals Dress Code. Championship finalists are required to wear black slacks and official TM shirts and will be restricted from wearing logos or other sponsor identification other than that provided by TM sponsors.
Publicity Release. By entering the TM, the bowler acknowledges KBP's right to make use of and to permit others to make use of bowler's name, voice, pictures, photographs and other likeness for any purpose in any manner related to the advertising, broadcast, publication or promotion of TM.
Disclaimer. Parents and students should be aware that that participation in this or other bowling competitions, certified or uncertified, and/or the acceptance of any scholarship dollars could possibly affect eligibility based upon the state interscholastic association rules of the state in which a given student resides. Each family is strongly encouraged to confer with their school's athletic director or a staff member of their state's interscholastic association before participating in the TM or other bowling competition.
Female participants should also be aware that NCAA guidelines have at times restricted the acceptance of scholarship funds from sources outside of the college/university being attended by athletes competing in NCAA competition.
